WHY I TEACH

I’ve always believed that music is an important part of life — a necessity, even. From a very young age, music has been a constant source of inspiration, connection, and expression. Great music brings people together, breaks down barriers, pushes boundaries, and inspires new ideas.

Learning to play an instrument takes patience, ambition, discipline, determination, and a genuine desire to keep learning and growing. The qualities you develop as a musician don’t stop at the music stand or behind the drum kit. They carry over into every part of life, whether you ultimately become a professional musician or choose an entirely different path.

I started teaching drums because I want to pass along the knowledge, experience, and passion I’ve gained through years of playing and performing to students who are excited and eager to learn.

But above all else, I want my students to have fun.

Music should be challenging, rewarding, and something you look forward to. My goal is to help each student grow as a musician, build confidence, discover their own voice, and most importantly — enjoy the ride.

Learn to Play Drums — Not Just Read the Book

Whether you’re picking up drumsticks for the first time or looking to take your playing to the next level, we’ll start with the fundamentals and build from there.

Beginner lessons focus on developing solid technique, coordination, timing, hand control, and the essential rudiments every drummer should know. We can work on a practice pad or snare drum, which I can provide.

But learning drums shouldn’t feel like homework. My approach combines traditional drumming fundamentals with techniques I’ve developed through years of playing and learning music myself. I believe there’s no single “right” way to learn — every drummer is different.

Some students want to learn their favorite songs. Others want to play in a band, improve their technique, or simply pick up the sticks and start making some noise. Whatever your goal, I’ll tailor lessons around you, your interests, and the kind of drummer you want to become.

The goal is simple: learn the fundamentals, have fun, build confidence, and start playing music.

What I provide for the lessons: (If needed)

 * Practice pads (for hands and feet)
 * Snare Drum and stand

Method books used in lesson:

"Mr. Jeremy is a great drum teacher. He is friendly so you won't feel nervous or uncomfortable during lessons. He explains things very well and gives tips when you need it".-Abey P.

"I first hired Jeremy to teach my 6 year old the drums. I quickly became jealous as a 32 year old who was never allowed to play drums so I bought a kit and started taking lessons from Jeremy too. I honestly really enjoy working with Jeremy and learning from him. It's clear he knows how to teach people of all ages and we are having fun learning and making plenty of noise in the house!"-Chris C.

"My son is trying 2 instruments with Jeremy and thriving in understanding the joy of music as a life long process. Very pleased with progress and receptivity in helping to instill the basics! Highly recommended! K & A"- Kayla P.

He has done a great job with our daughter and husband very patient while showing her new things.-Stephanie C.

"Jeremy is knowledgeable about his craft and has a good rapport with our somewhat shy son. He is patient, positive, and encouraging. We are very pleased with the lessons thus far."- James C.

"Jeremy communicates great about the lessons, and relates the material in several different ways for our daughter to learn. He makes it fun and relatable to her. She's tried piano and guitar, but never has lasted this long with an instrument or instructor."- Alisa C.

Jeremy is a great teacher, and my son looks forward to his lesson every week. He has developed my son's skills all the way from absolute novice to capable drummer. I recommend Jeremy!- Wayne P.

"Jeremy has been giving lessons to my 8 year old son for about 6 months and we couldn't be happier. My son is learning at an appropriate pace for his age. Jeremy is reliable, flexible and provides my wife and I feedback after each lesson. I highly recommend him."- Mike K.

"My 16 year old son has been taking drum lessons from Jeremy Worthington, since the summer and Jeremy is an awesome teacher! He is reliable, prompt and personable. After only a few lessons, my son was making real music (he has prior experience playing the bass and guitar).

My son truly looks forward to his drum lesson and practices without being told to do so. Not only does he enjoy his drum lessons with Jeremy, he likes Jeremy as a person and enjoys bonding with him. He enjoys talking music and bands with him.

I would recommend Jeremy to highly to everyone." -Ally R.

"I have wanted to take drum lessons for a long time, (after a brief elementary school band experience), and have been extremely happy with Jeremy's teaching, and my overall progress in the last 4 months. He challenges me to learn something new every week, and always works with me to figure out a new approach to new things that I am having a hard time learning. Even after a long day at work, I look forward to our lesson and his guidance in realizing my dream of someday being able to play along with friends and family. I highly recommend him for lessons." - Charles C

"Jeremy arrived punctually at my home to give me an outstanding drum lesson! He was very patient and his instruction was clear and helpful. What impressed me most about his instruction was how he adapted his lesson to make sure that I was understanding the information he was giving me, despite my hearing disability. He left me with practice work so that I could continue drumming on my own at home and master several drum rudiments. I definitely recommend taking drum lessons from Jeremy!" -Amanda C
